CHILD DEDICATION + BAPTISM Child Dedication at Grace Community is a practice in which parents make a solemn commitment to raising their child in the faith: in knowing Jesus as the only hope for bringing reconciliation between God and humanity. This service typically includes a Scripture reading, prayer, a "Family Covenant" reading, and a series of vows spoken by parents. If desired, parents and families may personalize these services; for example, including blessings or prayers from grandparents or incorporating meaningful songs and/or other creative elements. Child Dedication trainings and services take place throughout the year—for dates of these and other upcoming Kids events, view our calendar.
When a child makes the choice to follow Jesus, they have the opportunity to declare their commitment to Jesus through baptism. Children being baptized at Grace Community must understand what baptism means and must be able to declare their intention to follow the way of Jesus. For this reason, each year in the Spring, children who wish to be baptized are invited to attend a Kids Baptism Class, where kids learn the significance and meaning of baptism and are prepared for the experience of baptism at Grace Community. |
