Pledge and Prayer Weekend for The Philip Project
June 14, 2010
If you are taking part in the 24 hours of prayer for the Philip Project, here are some guidelines to help you pray!
Adoration- Prayers of praise to tell God how wonderful He is. Focus on God’s character traits (i.e. forgiving, all knowing, powerful, etc.)
Confession- Prayers admitting our wrongs; a repentant heart is what God looks for.
Thanksgiving- Prayers that thank God for specific blessings He has given you.
Supplication- Prayers that humbly ask things of God. We must be in accordance with what God wants for us (His will).
Intercession asks for the needs of others. Take time to pray for believers who are brothers and sisters in Christ, who are undergoing hardships (i.e. illness, work problems, family issues, etc). Intercessory prayer helps to strengthen the family of God.
Petition asks for our own needs. Pray for spiritual growth, material needs. Share with God the desires of your heart and trust Him to respond in the best possible way.
Other Ideas for a Time of “Prayer”:
Quiet Listening to God
Bible Reading- Psalms are prayers-expressively read them to God. Ask God to direct you to any other particular book / scripture He wants you to read. Read slowly and listen to what God is saying to you.
Listen to Worshipful Music- Sing and Dance if God leads you to this
Nature Walk- Adore God’s marvelous creation
Write a letter / poem / song to God- Pour your heart out to Him
God loves to hear from you; He waits for you to spend time with Him.
