Passage:

Philippians 4:4-5 (The Message)

4-5 “Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you’re on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute!”

Though/Application:

Having just experienced the death of a friend who left much too soon, I appreciate the sense of urgency in these words. The Master could show up any minute ~ or the Master could decide it’s time to bring you to Him ~ so make every day and every opportunity count. If we, as Christians, really celebrated and reveled in God’s love all day, every day, people would be clamoring to find what we have. Letting  everyone we come in contact with know, through our actions, not just our words, that we are on their side, that we care about who they are and what they are struggling with, that we want God’s best for them – who wouldn’t be drawn to that? Being “Christ-like” rather than “Christian” or “religious”; looking at others as brothers, sisters and friends, not simply “believers” and “nonbelievers” opens up opportunities to share our excitement about the Lord’s return, what it means to us  and what it could mean to them.

Celebrate! Revel! Look for and take every opportunity God gives you to love others because the Master could show up any day!

Prayer:

Lord, let me be someone who is gentle and kind; let me celebrate Your love for me by loving others. May I revel in Your love and goodness in a way others will see You in me and may I make the most of the time You have given me. Amen.
