Join us as we visit this city outside of Detroit and partner with our missionaries from Micah 6 Community. We will spend a week working alongside Coleman Yoakum and his team to serve the local community in the city of Pontiac, which the USDA has declared a "food desert."
Micah 6 primarily serves Pontiac by focusing on healthy living, community and economic development, spiritual growth, and children. They started with one vacant lot, growing vegetables. Then they purchased another lot, planting 20 apple trees. Today, they are working with more than 2 acres of land trying to grow healthy food, which is redistributed in the community in three major ways: community gardens, pop-up markets, and their new fresh food store Sprout.
